Choi Sung-bong, a Korean vocalist who finished first in Korea’s Got Talent in 2011, committed suicide on Wednesday. He was 33. Choi was discovered dead at his house in the Yeoksam-dong neighborhood of southern Seoul on Tuesday, according to Seoul police. Despite being famous at a very young age, his cancer fake was what ultimately brought him down.

Choi Sung-bong stirred some controversy when he launched a fundraising effort and claimed to be battling various cancers. He spoke of his financial difficulties and stated that he needed cash for his most recent album. Later, it was shown to be a fraud. Choi acknowledged the same and pledged to pay back the money he had been given. Choi declared, “I do not now have cancer.

He posted a note on YouTube the day before he died that appeared to be a suicide note.

Additionally, Choi Sung-bong had a record deal with the Bong Bong Company of Korea. He was well-known and praised by celebrities such Justin Bieber, BoA, and Jung-Hwa Um, among others.
